The Rome Braves split a doubleheader against the West Virginia Power on Wednesday at State Mutual Stadium, losing the opener 8-4 before hitting four homers and winning the nightcap, 8-2.

Here's a look at the games:

GAME 1 RECAP

Hefflinger’s huge effort goes to waste

Final: Power 8, Braves 4

(at State Mutual Stadium)

How it happened: In the resumption of a game that was interrupted by rain on Monday night, the Braves could not dig themselves out of an early

6-0 hole and suffered the loss despite outhitting the Power, 11-9.

Who did what for Rome: Robby Hefflinger had a huge game, going 4-for-4 with a homer and four RBIs.

On the mound: Rome starter David Filak (4-8) was charged with six runs, all earned, before being lifted without recording an out.

GAME 2 RECAP

Four homers propel win

Final: Braves 8, Power 2

(at State Mutual Stadium)

How it happened: The Braves used the long ball — hitting four homers — to erase an early 2-0 deficit and earn the split in the doubleheader.

Who did what for Rome: Ryan Query, who came into the game without a home run this season, hit a pair of two-run shots, and Brandon Drury and Will Skinner also went deep for the Braves.

On the mound: Ian Thomas earned the win with 2 2-3 innings of scoreless relief .

Braves notes: Atlanta Braves pitcher Peter Moylan, who has been rehabbing with the Gulf Coast Braves, is scheduled to pitch this weekend for the R-Braves against Asheville.
