Wayne Phipps is the new director of the Office of Human Resources for Shorter University.

Phipps, a native of Kentucky, comes to Shorter from Atlanta’s Oglethorpe University, where he worked in the human resources department for nearly five years. Prior to that, Phipps served in the field of corporate human resources.

Phipps will oversee functions of the human resources office that include duties tied to hiring processes, payroll processing, employee relations and benefits administration.

“I am excited to be a part of the Shorter community and look forward to working with all of the wonderful faculty and staff that make this university so special,” he said.

Phipps earned a master’s degree in public administration from Kennesaw State University and an undergraduate degree in communications from Cumberland College.

Who was running Shorter's HR prior for the last 12 months?

Brenda Newman was HR Director until she retired May 2011 with her husband, Harold Newman, Shorter's former president.
