Answering questions for this week's Small Business Snapshot is Casie Autry, owner of the Rock Candy Bar.

What is the primary purpose of your business? Our goal is to provide not only delicious edible candy but catchy eye candy as well. It’s always a red carpet event at the Rock Candy Bar. Affordable prices and priceless smiles are available only at this rocking new candy store. We are motivated only by children’s love of candy and music.

What is the business background of the owners? I have been a stay at home mom of three. I always wanted to do something on my own when I got older and into school. Actually this was a lot of my kids idea. I’ve spent my fair share of money in candy stores over the years and we were brainstorming and the kids said how about a candy store. I said that sounds great!

Why did you start (or purchase) this particular business? It is something for me to do. My husband has his own business. My kids are in school and this provides a little extra income. I enjoy being in the community and figured it would be a nice touch here in Rome, especially here in the mall.

What makes your business unique? We are the only rock and roll themed candy store. We always have mu-sic playing in our store and have a rock and roll theme as far as our decorations. We want it to be lively and upbeat when the kids come in. A lot of kids are into music so we thought candy and music would be a good fit and this would be a nice place for them to come

What do you enjoy most about your chosen profession? Seeing all the kids. A lot of kids that come into the store have never been inside of a candy store. This is the most candy they’ve ever seen and just seeing their reaction when they first come in is the greatest thing in the world.

What has been the biggest or most interesting challenge to overcome as a small business owner? Just getting people out to the mall, to know that there are great stores here. Just getting people to know that we’re here is the biggest challenge so far.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers ? We offer over 250 different candies and gifts. We’re the largest bulk candy store in the area as far as the amount of candy that we have. It’s $1.99 a quarter pound, all our gifts are $9.95 all the time. We offer candy buffets for birthday parties, weddings and any other special events.

The one in the mall cant be beat. Lots more candy than the one downtown.

AND... if more Romans frequented the mall, Rome would get more national stores to come in which is what everyone complains about not having. Support ALL local businesses and help them grow!

The Rock Candy Bar has a great selection of candies! Trying a relocation to improve your business is not "closed down" and "our sorry mall" worked hard to get them back to Rome. There are several new independent local store owners in the mall that could use our support to make it a better mall!

100% AGREE! Just in the last year I know of, Rock Candy Bar, Pokey's Hometown Sports, Initially Twisted, The Sports Stop, Legends Comic Book Store, Abihka Handbags, 3 Rivers Auction & Wood Wicked! But MOST Romans don't know this because they don't visit the mall and that's why the Mall is struggling not because of the stores but the shoppers!
YIKES!!

Hasn't this place closed down twice? Once in the mall, then again in Alpharetta? Now back at our sorry mall.

I dont think they have ever closed down. Relocated maybe. I have been to the Rock Candy Bar several times and love it. And hope it never relocates again. I also know you have to support the stores you love if you want them to hang around.

This is by far the BEST candy in Rome, and North GA! If you haven't visited you must go, it's a real treat!

I beg to differ, the one downtown is much better. Better selection and the store is absolutely beautiful.
