“It’s a fan shop, when you say sports store, most people think of equipment, bats, balls, gloves, shoes, we don’t do any of that,” Limbaugh said. “We carry pretty much anything with a team logo on it. T-shirts, hats, jerseys, knick-knacks, key chains, stickers, license plates, lamps.”
The Sports Stop is located on the Sears end of the mall, across from Victoria’s Secret.
Limbaugh said he packed up his Arbor Place mall store at the end of April and has been moving merchandise all week. “I lost my place at Arbor Place last month, mall politics,” Limbaugh said.
Mount Berry leasing director Carol Hatch had been talking with Limbaugh for some time. “I feel like Rome is an untapped mine for what we’re doing,” Limbaugh said. “There’s a Hobbits in the mall but we’re a totally different kind of store.”
Limbaugh will split operation of the store with a friend who lives in Cartersville but hopes to add some part time help from the local community to handle night duty.
The Sports Stop will be open during regular mall hours seven days a week.
