A 3-year-old child who was hit and injured by a car on Maple Road was treated for injuries and released from the hospital, according to Floyd County police officer Gerome Poole.

A 3-year-old child was hit and injured by a car on the 3000 block of Maple Road at Old Lindale Road at approximately 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon.

According to Floyd County police Pfc. Baker Harbin:

The child was in a yard alongside the road when he ran into the road.

The driver of an SUV was able to see the child and slid to a stop, but still struck the child.

The child was bleeding from his nose and head and was taken to Floyd Medical Center. The driver was going the speed limit and will not be charged, Harbin said.
