Kara Joy Hicks and Zachary Kelley Williams of Rome were married at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at the Havenshire House at Belle Terra Estate in Rome.

Chaplain Jeremiah O’Keefe-West of Atlanta performed the double ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cal Hicks of Rome. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Williams of Rome.

The ceremony took place under an antique wrought-iron arbor placed near the lake on the property. Two wrought-iron baskets filled with assorted greenery completed the wedding site.

The bride, given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, wore a gown of blush organza. Her gown was designed with a fitted, draped bodice cascading into a hand-cut, flanged skirt with a cathedral-length train and was adorned by a crystal medallion and candle-light ribbon sash at the waist. Her chapel-length veil was accented by a jeweled headband. The bridal bouquet consisted of a hand-gathered style of cream spray roses, Eskimo roses, cymbidium orchids, lambs ear and sweet pea.

Music was provided by harpist Beth Blackburn of Dalton. Selections included “Cannon in D,” “Simple Gifts,” and various Celtic folk tunes. Sarah Justus of Cartersville was the soloist and performed “Your Song,” accompanied by guitarist Dave Matthis of Guthrie, Okla., uncle of the bride.

Karlee Hicks of Rome, sister of the bride, was the maid of honor. She wore a formal halter-style gown of pewter sateen and organza. Bridesmaids Bethany Womack, Ashleigh Sweatt and Rena Dunn, all of Rome, wore silver day dresses of silk shantung accented with white lace morning gloves. The bridal attendants all carried arm bouquets of blush tinted calla lilies and greenery.

The flower girl, Isabelle Phillips of Rome, wore a sleeveless candlelight satin gown accented with a blush ribbon and Victorian lace.

Colt Waid was the best man. Groomsmen were Logan Littlejohn and Jacob Skinner, all of Rome. The ring-bearer was 14-month old Benjamin Hicks-Morris, nephew of the bride. He was escorted by his mother, Karlee Hicks, down the aisle in a wagon belonging to the groom from his childhood. The wagon was lined with a candlelight colored blanket and accented by a bow on the handle.

The mother of the bride wore a formal gown of taupe textured organza, accented by crystal beading and a matching sheer bolero jacket. The mother of the groom wore an ivory silk shantung sheath dress with an empire waist and lace bodice with a pearl closure. Both mothers wore green cymidium orchids tied with chiffon bows.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held on the veranda. The three-tiered wedding cake was iced in pale pink with ivory detail and accented with antique-jeweled brooches, miniature orchids and lamb’s ear.

The evening before the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner in The Havenshire House dining room.

Pre-nuptial parties included a shower given by Elane Lanier and Gail Pitts at the Lanier home as well as a dnner at Blue Fin Japanese Restaurant hosted by Karlee Hicks.

After a trip to Puerto Rico, the couple enjoyed a cruise to various islands and will reside in Rome.
