Woman charged with forgery, burglary

A Dallas woman remained in the Floyd County Jail late Monday night on felony charges of burglary and first-degree forgery and misdemeanor theft by deception, according to a Floyd County Jail report.

According to the report:

Shawna Brenae Stephens, 22, of 570 Bell Road, was charged after she allegedly stole a blank check from a Rockmart Road residence and took the check to the Silver Creek Mini Mart at 5729 Rockmart Highway.

She forged the owner’s signature on the check and cashed it for the amount of $75.

She was being held Monday night without bond.
