ATLANTA – State Representative Barbara Masse Reece (D-Menlo) has been elected vice chairman of the House Rural Caucus, the largest non-partisan caucus in the Georgia House of Representatives.

“I am honored to be elected by my peers, and I look forward to working across the aisle to help serve rural Georgia,” said Rep. Reece.

Consisting of approximately 55 House members, the Rural Caucus was created six years ago to address issues affecting rural areas and rural communities. Rep. Reece served as secretary of the Caucus for each of those six years, before being elected vice chairman this year.

The caucus also elected Representative Bob Hanner (R-Parrott) as Chairman, Representative Carol Fullerton (D-Albany) as Secretary, and Representative Tommy Benton (R-Jefferson) as Treasurer.

Representative Barbara Massey Reece represents the citizens of District 11, which includes Chatooga County, as well as portions of Floyd County. She was elected into the House of Representatives in 1998, and currently serves on the Education, Reapportionment, Science & Technology, and State Institutions & Property committees.
