With the Georgia State Junior Closed Challenger just completed, tennis action is heating back up in Rome today with the start of the Southern Boys and Girls 16 Closed.

The tournament, which features more than 320 players from across the Southeast, will take place June 18-25.

The tournament will be played at the Rome-Floyd Tennis Center, Alto Park, Darlington School and Etowah Park.

Local players will represent the Greater Rome area in the event.

Romans Caroline Ferrari and Sarah Hubbard, who just competed in the Challenger, will be joined by Megan Cochran and McClain Kessler, both of Calhoun.
