Hodges is retiring after 21 years of teaching, 18 of which were spent at Rome High School as art teacher.
The exhibit will feature work by Hodges as well as former students. There will also be musical performances by Jackson Hodges, John Schroeder, Cate Sellers, Gary Greene, Muletide Perkins and Jerry on the Moon.
James Schroeder, a former student of Hodge’s and one of the artists displaying work at the event is hosting the celebration.
“I didn’t want (Hodges) retiring thinking kids didn’t care,” Schroeder said. “He is an incredible influence. He was a guiding light of creativity.”
Schroeder said about 20 local artists will be displaying their work, some of which was created while they were students of Hodges.
The event runs from 6 to 10 p.m. at Schroeder’s Courtyard Deli, 406 Broad Street.
Admission is free.
