The money represented proceeds from a July 9 motorcycle ride honoring Bagley to benefit the local Cancer Navigators program.
Her husband, Adairsville City Councilman Buddy Bagley joined his wife in making the check presentation to Dr. Dilawar Khan, a medical oncologist at Harbin, Scharla Battle with Cancer Navigators and several other Harbin officials.
Darlene Bagley was originally diagnosed with ovarian cancer in November 2009 and began treatment in Rome the following month.
Since the original diagnosis, cancer was also discovered in Darlene Bagley’s stomach and a breast, and physicians did not expect her to live two years.
“I feel a lot better this year than I did at this time last year,” Darlene Bagley.
Buddy Bagley said the original goal of the fundraiser had been $10,000, and they were very excited that they came so close to meeting the goal.
Approximately 60 riders participated in the 58-mile ride.
Battle said Cancer Navigators, a support agency that offers a variety of services to cancer patients and their families would use the funds for a variety of purposes. “It will help so, so many people,” Battle said.
