Last week was a big moment for Darlington and specifically for the eighth-grade: laptops were distributed to students for the first time, ushering in a new approach to learning for the school.

This moment was the culmination of much intensive research and planning last year by a group of teachers whose goal was to make sure Darlington was creating an appropriate learning environment for 21st Century students. Though the major goals of their initiative were focused on adjustments to curriculum, assessments and teaching methods, a major requirement for supporting these improvements required ubiquitous access to personal technology. You can read more about the plans for the program in my previous blog.

Students met us last week with the excitement and enthusiasm that you would expect from a group of students receiving a brand new Apple MacBook.
