Despite an inspiring late-season charge, the Braves’ playoff hopes have officially gone from slim ... to none.

Facing Augusta on Friday night, the Braves suffered a 7-4 loss at Lake Olmstead Stadium.

With three games remaining in the season, the Braves (34-33) are five games behind the first-place Savannah Sand Gnats.

Augusta is in second place, one game behind Savannah.

The Braves came into Friday’s game having won eight of their past 11 games, and 17 of their past 23. But Augusta used a late rally to halt the Braves' momentum and even this five-game series at 1-1.

The Braves erased a 4-0 deficit by scoring one run in the fifth inning and three more in the sixth.

But Augusta answered with a three-run rally in the bottom of the sixth and held on from there.

Ryan Delgado finished with two hits and three RBIs for the Braves.

Rome starter Dan Jurik allowed four runs (three earned) on eight hits in 4 1-3 innings. Danilo Alvarez took the loss, allowing three runs in 1 2-3 innings.

The teams continue the series tonight at 7 p.m. and then play the final two games of the season on Monday and Tuesday.
