The open house will be held from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the continuing education building at Georgia Northwestern Technical College, located at 96 East Callahan St. in Rome, the site of the transitional center.
Workers being laid off from the hospital are encouraged to attend the open house at their convenience to learn about new career options.
The U.S. Department of Labor has provided a $3.75 million National Emergency Grant for re-training and support services for the laid-off workers at the hospital.
Staff members from the GDOL, as well as representatives from the Northwest Georgia Regional Commission, Georgia Highlands College, and the Paulding County and Rome campuses of the Chattahoochee Technical College, will be onsite to provide information about the grant.
Laid-off employees interested in returning to school are encouraged to bring the online application (www.careerdepot.org) with them. Also, laid-off workers may bring lists of questions to be answered regarding returning to work or planning for their futures.
