The Dalton City Council is expected on Monday to approve Sunday package sales of beer, wine and alcohol beginning Dec. 4. The Cohutta Town Council held the first reading of a similar ordinance last Wednesday and plans to hold the second reading and vote today. Cohutta City Attorney Todd Johnson said that if everything follows their plans, Cohutta stores should be able to start selling beer and wine by the package this Sunday. Cohutta’s referendum did not include liquor.

Rome is planning a referendum during the presidential preference primary in March.
