Roman charged with cruelty to children

A Rome man was jailed on felony cruelty to children charges on Saturday evening after he allegedly hit his victim with an open hand, “causing swelling and mental pain,” according to a Floyd County Jail report.

According to the jail report:

Eddie Joel Colon, 34, of 208 Glen Ridge Road, is also accused of breaking the victim’s cell phone, worth $200.

He is also charged with misdemeanor simple battery and criminal trespass. He remained in jail Saturday night.
