Award-winning journalist Mark Harris will speak about environmental burial Tuesday (Feb. 7) as part of the Woodrow Wilson Visiting Fellow program at Berry College.

Harris's speech, “The Green Burial Movement: A Natural Return to Long Tradition,” will be at 7:30 p.m. in the Spruill Ballroom of the Krannert Center. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Harris, a former environmental columnist for the Los Angeles Times Syndicate, will give a second public lecture “One Last, Green Home: Changing Notions of Home, Place and Family in a Modern, Hurried World” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 9) in the Spruill Ballroom.

During his week-long visit, Harris will meet with classes, and speak to faculty and student organizations. He is the author of "Grave Matters: a Journey Through the Modern Funeral Industry to a Natural Way of Burial" and a national expert on “green burials.” A frequent guest on national media programs, he is writing a book about the construction of a green and senior-friendly home in Georgia.
