Max and Mary Worley of Rome recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a family dinner at a local restaurant. They were married in an afternoon ceremony on February 23, 1952 in Heflin, Ala. by Rev. J.W. Reynolds.

Mr. Worley was born in Pine Log and graduated from Armuchee High School in 1946. He served in the United States Army, being deployed to Korea. Later he worked for General Motors and Celanese. He retired from the Department of Agriculture with the State of Georgia.

The former Mary Momon, Mrs. Worley was born in Rome, moving to Alabama as a young child. She graduated in 1951 from Cleburn County High School om Heflin, Ala.

Mr. and Mrs. Worley met at church while she was visiting her grandparents — the late Jess and Emma Momon — in Rome.

After their marriage, they lived in Cartersville, moving back to Rome in 1956. In 1961 they moved to the Little Texas Valley Community where they continue to make their home.

Mr. and Mrs. Worley have one daughter, Sue Webb. They are also the parents of the late Bruce W. Worley and deceased twins, Randall Max Worley and Reba Mary Worley.

They are proud grandparents of four grandsons: Robert Webb, Randall Webb, Justin Worley and Dillon Worley.

Mr. and Mr. Worley are members of Armuchee Baptist Church and the Georgia Mountain Music Club. They also enjoy meeting with the Armuchee Kareoke group. In past years, Mr. Worley enjoyed horseback riding and raising Belgium horses. Mrs. Worley enjoyed working in their yard, growing beautiful plants and flowers. She also enjoyed making handmade quilts for their daughter and each of the grandchildren, as well as special friends.

Especially happy times for the couple have been the births of their children and grandsons. They have also enjoyed numerous years of travel, camping, and spending winters in Florida.

Loving one another and putting your spouse first is thir secret to a happy and lasting marriage.
