The Leprechaun-a-thon road race and health walk will begin today at 9 a.m. on West Third Street near Barron Stadium. Registration will be from 7 to 8:30 a.m. for the 5K and 7 to 9 a.m. for the 2-mile walk. Race-day registration is $25.
The Valley and Ridge Gem and Mineral Show will continue today at The Forum. Admission is free. The event includes gems, minerals and fossils. Today’s hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday’s hours are from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

A “Night of Africa” today at 7:30 p.m. will feature music, art and desserts, with benefits going to the Sponsorship of Orphans in Uganda Project. The event will be at 7 Hills Fellowship, 538 Broad St. Jeremy Marshall, a member of the WinShape community will speak, followed by viewing artwork and photography. SOUP seeks to raise money and awareness for orphans in the remote village of Isita, Uganda. Their needs are proper education, affordable medical treatment and holistic living environments for the children. A $7 donation is encouraged. Child care will be provided.
