The Leprechaun-a-thon road race and health walk will begin today at 9 a.m. on West Third Street near Barron Stadium. Registration will be from 7 to 8:30 a.m. for the 5K and 7 to 9 a.m. for the 2-mile walk. Race-day registration is $25.
The Valley and Ridge Gem and Mineral Show will continue today at The Forum. Admission is free. The event includes gems, minerals and fossils. Today’s hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday’s hours are from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
First Baptist Church of Lindale, 9 Park Ave., Lindale, is having a clothing giveaway today from 10 a.m. to noon for the community. There is no charge for any item. The St. Petrick’s Day Parade will be today at 11 a.m. with registration beginning at 10 a.m. in the parking lot adjacent to Bridgepoint Plaza. A “Night of Africa” today at 7:30 p.m. will feature music, art and desserts, with benefits going to the Sponsorship of Orphans in Uganda Project. The event will be at 7 Hills Fellowship, 538 Broad St. Jeremy Marshall, a member of the WinShape community will speak, followed by viewing artwork and photography. SOUP seeks to raise money and awareness for orphans in the remote village of Isita, Uganda. Their needs are proper education, affordable medical treatment and holistic living environments for the children. A $7 donation is encouraged. Child care will be provided.
