Frederick Lamar Harris, 55, of 217 Coosawattee Ave., was arrested at about 10 p.m. Friday after police alleged that he choked the owner of a Shorter Avenue convenience store, attempted to steal $1,500 and then fled after the owner was able to fight him off.
Sheriff’s deputies caught up with Harris a few blocks away at Sonny’s, where he was arrested and alleged to have been intoxicated.
After reviewing store surveillance video, police and the owner were able to positively identify Harris, who was taken to the jail and charged with felony robbery and misdemeanor public drunkenness.
