The Atlanta Braves Foundation, Rome Braves, and Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation Authority are currently accepting registration for athletes at the new Braves Miracle Field of Rome.

Registration forms are online at romebraves.com and rfpra.com.

The cost is $50 per athlete, but scholarship opportunities are available. No player will be turned away. The Braves Miracle Field of Rome athletes will be recognized on field at State Mutual Stadium, home of the Rome Braves, before the game on Friday April 13.

“This is a great time for the game of baseball and all those who enjoy it,” says Rome general manager Mike Dunn.

“We are forever thankful for all of the support for this worthy cause, including our Founding Friend Partners and all others who have contributed. Now is the time to get the athletes involved so they too can enjoy the game.”

The Braves will soon be announcing the date for the Miracle Field of Rome’s grand opening, as well as Opening Day at the park.

There are still opportunities for individual or groups to volunteer at the Braves Miracle Field of Rome.

The registration forms can also be found online at romebraves.com or at the box office of State Mutual Stadium. For more information on volunteering or scheduling a group volunteer outing, please contact Erin Elrod with the Rome Braves at 706-368-9388.

This facility is a partnership between the Atlanta Braves Foundation and the National Miracle League Association and was aided by the Founding Friends and sponsors.

All that is missing from this story is an explanation of what the Braves Miracle Field is all about, which is kind of the whole point of the story. Also, this isn't an actual news story. All the RN-T did was reprint the press release from the Rome Braves. Too bad it didn't provide parents with the information that was clear and helpful.

For parents who don't know, this field is for kids with disabilities.
