Physical Therapist Kirsten Reggel joins Floyd



Kirsten Reggel has joined Floyd Medical Center’s Rehabilitation Services Department.

Reggel works as a physical therapist, providing therapy to patients hospitalized at Floyd Medical Center including those recovering from orthopedic surgeries such as hip or knee replacement, spine or brain surgery and other medically ill patients who need to improve mobility and independence.

She teaches patients the skills they need to sit, stand and walk, including helping them learn to get in and out of their beds, chairs, wheelchairs and cars. In addition, Reggel teaches exercises to improve strength, endurance and coordination, putting patients through workouts to reeducate muscles and nerves that have been impaired by stroke, trauma and illness.

Reggel holds a doctor of physical therapy degree and her bachelor’s degree in health professional sciences from the University of South Alabama, Mobile.

Reggel is member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the Physical Therapy Association of Georgia.

A native of Birmingham, she lives in Rome and attends Calvary Baptist Church.



Dr. Rashid Ishaque earns board certification



Harbin Clinic Nephrologist Rashid Ishaque,

M.D. has earned board certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Nephrology.

Board Certification is voluntary and includes an exam that tests a physician’s ability to diagnose and treat patients with a broad range of conditions. It also demonstrates that physicians have met the highest standards of internal medicine and its subspecialties.

Dr. Isha-que received his Medical Doctorate from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. He served as chief resident while completing his residency in internal medicine at the University of Illinois College Of Medicine in Urbana, Ill. He completed an internal medicine internship at the University of Illinois College of Medicine.

Ishaque is a member of the American Society of Nephrology, the National Kidney Foundation., the American Medical Association and the American College of Physicians. Ishaque joined Harbin Clinic in 2011.



Dr. Maxwell Prempeh earns board certification



Harbin Clinic cardiologist, Maxwell A. Prempeh, M.D., has earned board certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine in interventional cardiology.

Board certification is voluntary and includes an exam that tests a physician’s ability to diagnose and treat patients with a broad range of conditions. It also demonstrates that physicians have met the highest standards of internal medicine and its subspecialties.

Dr. Prempeh received his Medical Doctorate degree from Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, N.C. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Duke. Prempeh completed a cardiovascular fellowship and interventional cardiovascular fellowship at the Hospital of University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Prempeh joined Harbin Clinic in 2010.



Shana Giles named new imaging supervisor



Shana Giles, RT (R) (M) has been announced as the new Cartersville imaging supervisor. Prior to accepting this position, Giles had been with Harbin Clinic Imaging Center in Rome for the past ten years.

“We are excited about Shana being chosen to lead the team there,” said Dana Czekalla, imaging center co-manager. “She has a vivacious personality as well as superior customer service skills.”

Giles’ responsibilities will include motivating and leading staff, working with other Harbin Clinic Cartersville offices to ensure each patient has the best possible care, and using her prior experience to help the Cartersville Imaging Center to operate at its highest potential.

Giles received her Associate of Applied Science degree from Monroe Community College in Rochester, NY. She is a member of American Association of Radiological Technologists and is a registered mammography technologist.

Giles lives in Sand Rock, Ala., with her husband, Shawn, and son, Brian.



Dr. Michael Gonsalves presented service award



Michael Gonsalves, M.D., a Floyd Primary Care physician at Chattooga Medical Center, was recently presented with the Service with a Smile Award.

The award recognizes outstanding customer service. Individuals are nominated for the award by customers touched by examples of exemplary care.

Marie Hanna nominated Dr. Gonsalves for the award, noting that he makes a personal follow-up call to his patients after their appointment and uses modern medicine and up-to-date technology while providing an old-fashioned personal touch.

Floyd Primary Care at Chattooga Medical Center is located at 11766 U.S. 27 in Summerville.
