The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Hicks of Armuchee. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sherman W. Hicks of Armuchee and the late Mr. and Mrs. Homer D. Blevins.
The groom is the son of Julian Reese of Rome and the late Emily Horton Reese. He is the father of Sydney and Mary Lunell Reese of Boynton Beach, Fla., and Emily and Thomas Marriott Reese Jr., of Armuchee.
Julian Reese, of Knoxville, Tenn., brother of the groom, performed the outdoor ceremony. Ivory Eskimo rose petals lined the aisle, as well as where the bride and groom stood under the garden arch on the lawn behind the ruins. French ivory satin ribbon marked the family seating.
Keyboard prelude music was provided by Aaron Blevins. A violin-keyboard duet processional of “Canon in D” was provided by Aaron and Amanda Blevins of Columbus, Ohio.
Laura Howard of Rome, was the maid of honor. Holly Sargent of Rockmart and Emily Reese, daughter of the groom, were the bridesmaids. They all wore formal length navy satin gowns of varying styles. They carried clutch style bouquets of light pink sweet akito roses wrapped in french ivory satin ribbon.
The bride, given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, wore a gown featuring a sweetheart bodice of English net with lace beginning at the empire line and cascading toward the delicate scalloped lace edging accenting the hemline. The gown featured thin straps covered in matching embroidered lace that crossed in the back. The vintage feel of the gown was completed by the combination of light gold satin and ivory lace perfecting the mermaid silhouette. The bride chose a one layer, ivory finger tip veil edged in ivory satin. She wore a pair of vintage button pearl earrings surrounded by diamonds which belonged to her mother.
She carried a clutch-style bouquet of light pink Victorian garden roses wrapped in french ivory satin ribbon.
Thomas Reese Jr., son of the groom, was the best man.
The mother of the bride wore a teal satin formal length gown with soft ruffles extending from neckline to waist. She wore a corsage of ivory Eskimo roses tied with ivory sheer satin ribbon.
Following the ceremony, a buffet dinner was served in the Rice House at Barnsley Gardens. The bride’s cake was a three-tiered ivory raspberry filled cake with accents of scrollwork on the outside and topped with pink roses. The groom’s cake featured a hunting motif with pecan pie filling flavoring the cake layers.
The evening before the wedding, the groom hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Adairsville Inn for the wedding party
and families. Other pre-nuptial parties included a shower hosted by Valerie Pierce, Brandy Wiggins, Mandy Henson, Paula Blevins and Hannah Seritt; a shower given by co-workers at Harbin Clinic Echo Lab/Heart Center; a home improvement shower by the employees of Rome Mortgage Company hosted by Debbi West; a shower given by Brenda and Leslie Hicks, Donna and Laura Howard and Teresa Teague.
After a wedding trip to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, the couple will reside in Rome.
