Prior to this contest, the students already had won first, second or third place in their local-level contests. This year’s topic was “A Time When Volunteers Made a Difference”.
The first-place winner, Jack Conrad, an East Central Elementary fifth-grade student, who won a $50 cash award and a trophy. His school also will receive an engraved trophy.
Second-place winner Caroline Young, a West End Elementary fifth-grader, and third-place winner Bo Crick, a West End sixth-grader, also received trophies.
Modern Woodmen’s School Speech Contest is one of many free youth educational programs it offers to schools nationwide.
