Mr. and Mrs. Rickey Clanton of Collinsville, Ala., announce the engagement of their daughter, Stephanie Michelle Clanton, to Benjamin Charles Pate, son of Dr. and Mrs. Daniel Desso Pate III of Rome.

Miss Clanton is a 2005 graduate of Sand Rock High School and a 2009 graduate of the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education. While at Alabama she was a member of the university’s Million Dollar Band. Miss Clanton is currently pursuing a Master of Education degree in school counseling at the University of West Alabama and is employed by the Jefferson County Board of Education.

The bride-elect is the sister of Christina Wade of Rome, and Derrick and Zachary Clanton of Collinsville, Ala., She is the granddaughter of Linda Clanton of Fort Payne, Ala. and and Rosalind Tucker of Center, Ala., as well as the late Norman Clanton and the late Kimble.

Pate is a 2007 high honors graduate of Darlington School and a 2011 graduate of Belmont University with a B.B.A. in Music Business and Entertainment. While at Belmont he served for three consecutive years as Chief Justice on the Community Conduct Board and Honor Court and was president of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He is employed as an Executive Team Leader with Target Corporation.

The groom-elect is the brother of Sara Louise Pate of Atlanta. He is the grandson of Clare Harvey of Rome and Frances C. Newman of Rome, the late Thomas Willingham Harvey Sr. and the late Preston Earl Newman.

The wedding will be held July 21, 2012, at Morris Chapel on the Darlington School campus. A reception will follow in the A.J. Huffman Memorial Athletic Center. Invitations will be sent.
