Christopher Lee Lucas, 38, of Lindale has been charged with burglaries in Rome and Floyd County as well as now in Calhoun.
Besides the burglaries in Rome, Lucas is a suspect in a string of burglaries of Dollar Tree stores in Woodstock, Roswell, Alpharetta, Calhoun, Marietta, Union City, Fort Oglethorpe and Fairburn.
CPD Chief Garry Moss said, "Detectives from the Calhoun Police Department, have charged Lucas in connection with two burglaries that occurred in the City of Calhoun."
The CPD is working in conjunction with the City of Rome Police Department, who have uncovered evidence linking Lucas to the 2011 burglary of Scotts Pharmacy and the 2012 burglary of the Dollar Tree.
According to the CPD, on August 29, 2011 around 12:45 a.m. officers were dispatched to an alarm activation at Scott’s Pharmacy, located at 429 Highway 53. Officers arrived within minutes of receiving the call and discovered the glass front door had been busted out and business had been entered.
Again on March 12, 2012 around 5 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the Dollar Tree located at 122 W. C. Bryant Pkwy and advised by the store manager, she had opened the business and discovered someone had entered the store and accessed the safe.
“Lucas remains in the Floyd County Jail on unrelated charges and will at some point in the near future be transferred to Gordon County to face these two counts of burglary,” said CPD Det. Lt. Tony Pyle.
