Mount Berry Square Mall donated a total of $8,750 to the top three participants in the Giving Back to Schools program today.

The six-month long program encouraged students, parents and faculty to turn in mall receipts in exchange for points toward their schools.

Beginning Nov. 12, 2011 and ending April 30, 2012, the program registered $96,433.97 in total receipts from the top three schools.

Armuchee Elementary won the first place prize of $5,000 with receipts totaling $63,312.74, Glenwood Primary received the second place prize of $2,500 with receipts totaling $16,747.11 and Darlington took down the third place prize of $1,250 with receipts totaling $16,374.13.

“We are proud of the community we live in and we are excited to give back when we have the opportunity,” said Mall Manager James Dolan. “I want to thank the community and schools for participating, and we look forward to having a bigger and better contest next year.”
