Fueled by solid pitching, the Rome Braves swept the Augusta GreenJackets in a doubleheader on Tuesday at State Mutual Stadium.

The Braves won the opener, 3-1, and then took the second game, 6-2.

Here's how they did it:

GAME 1 RECAP

Final: Braves 3, GreenJackets 1

(State Mutual Stadium)

The turning point: With Navery Moore crafting a gem on the mound, the Braves provided him with all the support he needed when they scored a pair of runs in the fourth inning to flip a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 lead, and they held on from there in the seven-inning contest.

Who did what for Rome: Will Skinner went 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI. Brandon Drury also drove in a run.

On the mound: Moore (3-1) lowered his ERA to 3.10 by working six innings and limiting Augusta to one unearned run. Moore finished with five strikeouts and didn’t issue a walk, Ryne Harper earned his fourth save with a perfect inning of work.

GAME 2 RECAP

Final: Braves 6, GreenJackets 2

(State Mutual Stadium)

The turning point: The Braves used a five-run rally in the third inning to break out to a big lead, and they zoomed home from there to finish the sweep and improve to 11-33 on the season.

Who did what for Rome: The Braves finished with six hits, all coming from different players. Fernando De Los Santos had a double for the Braves’ only extra base hit. Kyle Kubitza drove in a pair of runs, and William Beckwith and Elmer Reyes had one RBI each.

On the mound: Ryan Weber worked the opening four innings and was charged with two runs (one earned) on three hits. Relievers Wilson Rivera and Ian Thomas then combined to hold Augusta scoreless the rest of the way, with Rivera earning the win with two scoreless innings, and Thomas notching his first save.

Game notes: Although the Braves still earn the worst record in minor league baseball, they have made some positive strides in recent days, winning five of their past nine games.

Next game: The Braves host Augusta today at 1 p.m. at SMS, then host Asheville in a doubleheader on Thursday that begins at 5 p.m.
