State Rep. Christian Coomer, R-Cartersville, qualified for reelection to State House District 14, encompassing northern Bartow and southeastern Floyd Counties on Wednesday, May 23, 2012.

No other candidate qualified to run against Rep. Coomer. As a result, Rep. Coomer will serve in the State House of Rep-resentatives for an additional two-year term.

Rep. Coomer said, “This demonstration of approval for our work in the General Assembly over the past two years is both a high compliment and an overwhelming honor that I could not have anticipated.”

He added, “During the last term, we worked hard to improve economic growth conditions for Georgia’s businesses by lowering taxes on manufacturing, mining, and agriculture activities. We’ve expanded educational opportunities for Georgia’s children by giving parents and teachers more control over the education process.

Additionally, we have advanced a conservative social policy that protects the lives of innocent children from unmitigated barbarism by abortionists, helps make the “punishment fit the crime” with meaningful criminal justice reform, and further enshrines the sanctity of human life by punishing people who make money from pushing others to commit suicide.”

Rep. Coomer noted he believed the most important accom-plishment of the session was the passage of a balanced budget without raising taxes.

“Georgia is setting the standard for American states and the federal government. We are proving that conservative fiscal policy works, while the President and his ilk keep proving that liberal, government-centric economic policies erode the foundations of our Republic and prolong the malaise of recession.”
