Gary D. Harrell qualified as a Democrat for Floyd County Board of Commissioners Post 2. He released the following statement:

Harrell, a Floyd County native, is a graduate of Pepperell High School. He currently serves as the communications di-rector of the Floyd County Democratic Party as well as vice chair of the technology committee of the Democratic Party of Georgia.

Harrell believes in the values of fiscal responsibility, bal-anced budget, supporting small business, and making Floyd County the best place for business and families to call home.

“It’s time to elect someone young, with fresh ideas, and who is sensitive to the real needs of the community. I’m com-mitted to Floyd County and will work to find solutions to the challenges that we face,” he said.

“The middle class is the backbone of this community, and I will serve as their voice on the Floyd County Board of Com-missioners. I look forward to a spirited campaign full of ideas, with a solutions based approach.”

Seeing as his facebook status says "Interested in Men", one can assume he supports gay rights... But as SkylerAkins mentioned, this has little to nothing to do with the job of a County Commissioner.

The voters of Georgia have settled the definition of marriage, so why does it matter? We need to put aside decisive social issues and focus on the real problems facing Floyd County!

I've heard enough of Dems and Repubs talking about issues that mean nothing to a family's bottom line or ability to put food on the table.

And you think this doesn't affect breadwinners? Try telling that to people who had been at this school for decades and suddenly find it hijacked by the self-righteous who claim that their righteousness comes from elsewhere.

Never mind. Clicked on the wrong link and posted in the wrong place. Boneheaded mistake.

How old is this kid anyway? Is he even old enough to run for office? Obviously he is a supporter of gay rights, (even though RNT got scared and quickly edited the photo when it was quickly pointed out). I would love to hear his thoughts on LGBT issues.

You have gays and lesbians working in your local government right now, and you are obviously clueless of that fact. Who care's if Gary Harrell is "out" or what his thoughts are on LGBT issues? Hate has never been a solution. Our community is facing real issues that actually matter, and I could care less about his sexual orientation.
