Rome Braves: Long inning leads to lopsided loss

FRIDAY'S GAME RECAP

Final: Tourists 11, Braves 1

(State Mutual Stadium)

The turning point: Leading 4-1, the Tourists broke the game wide open with seven runs in the sixth inning to take a commanding 11-1 lead.

Who did what for Rome: William Beckwith went deep again, and has now homered in back-to-back games. Beckwith also doubled in the loss.

On the mound: Starter David Filak had his worst outing of the year and took the loss. Filak gave up nine earned runs in five innings which raised his season ERA to 3.42. Ian Thomas gave up two runs in his inning of work, Wilson Rivera pitched two shutout innings, and Ryne Harper pitched a scoreless ninth.

Game notes: Rome was held to just six hits. Asheville had 14.

Next Game: The Braves host Asheville tonight for Game 4 of the

series. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.
