If you’re traveling this Memorial Day weekend, you’re certainly not alone, according to projections for the holiday from AAA, a motoring and travel services organization.

According to AAA, 34.8 million Americans — around 10 percent of the country’s total population — will travel more than 50 miles from home during the holiday weekend, which began Thursday and will continue through Monday. The nearly 35 million Americans hitting the road or taking to the skies this weekend — 88 percent will drive, according to AAA — represent an increase of a half-million people from last year’s number of travelers.
