A Rome man was arrested and charged Monday night after he allegedly used a concrete statue to smash out the windows of a relative’s car and crushed her cell phone while his 9-year-old daughter stood 30 feet away, watching and crying, according to a Floyd County Jail report.

According to the report:

Jonathan David Hughes, 28, of 83 Lewis Barrett Blvd., was charged with a felony count of criminal damage to property in the second degree under the Family Violence Act and misdemeanor third-degree cruelty to children under the FVA.
