A series of clues that included a suspicious car and a unique bird feeder led Floyd County investigators to arrest one man for at least three burglaries and recover a roomful of items that may have been stolen in other burglaries.

The case began when investigators were called to a burglary on Old Dalton Road, according to Sgt. Jeff Jones with the Floyd County Police Department.

The victim told police a unique bird feeder, made of wicker with a cast iron loop, was taken, said Jones.

To add to its uniqueness, the bird feeder has some damage from a storm.

After the burglary an anonymous caller said someone had come to their residence acting suspicious.

The caller gave police a tag number that was traced back to someone who said they had sold the vehicle to another person, Jones said.

When police went to the home of the new owner of the car they saw the bird feeder hanging on the porch.

The new owner of the car claimed they had been given the bird feeder by a friend. That friend was Daniell Jason Reeves, 35, of 45 Cemetery Road in Lindale.

Reeves was arrested Tuesday night and charged with burglary, theft by taking and two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

When detectives searched Reeves’ home on Wednesday they found a plethora of items, some which have been confirmed to have been taken in other burglaries.

Reeves was charged with two additional counts of burglary and two counts of theft by taking on Wednesday.

“We are working with Bartow County on another possible suspect,” Jones said.
