Armuchee High School graduate Alexandria Moore was awarded North Georgia EMC’s 2011-2012 Howard Baker Memorial Scholarship for Floyd County. Moore, who will attend Dalton State College, is the daughter of David and Andrea Moore of Armuchee.

She is one of seven Baker Scholarship recipients.

Each year, NGEMC in partnership with the Tennessee Valley Authority, awards the $1,000 scholarship to one senior from each of the seven counties to which it supplies electricity. The scholarship is named after the late Howard Baker who was on the NGEMC board of directors for more than 40 years representing Chattooga County.

The other Baker Scholarship recipients and the counties they represent include:

Nicholas Molleck of Catoosa County. The Ringgold High School graduate will attend the University of Georgia. He is the son of James and Barbara Molleck, of Ringgold.

Laurie Thompson of Chattooga County. The Trion High School graduate will attend North Georgia College and State University. She is the daughter of Will and Marcia Thompson, of Summerville.

Parker Davis of Gordon County. The Calhoun High School graduate will attend the Georgia Institute of Technology. He is the son of Russell and Larissa Davis, of Calhoun.

Bailli Douthitt of Murray County. The North Murray High School graduate will attend the University of Georgia. She is the daughter of Doug and Vickie Douthitt, of Cisco.

Laura Boyle of Walker County. The Ridgeland High School graduate will attend the Georgia Institute of Technology. She is the daughter of Clarence and Leissa Boyle, of Rossville.

Laura Stevens of Whitfield County. The Northwest Whit-field High School graduate will attend the University of Georgia. She is the daughter of David and Lisa Stevens, of Rocky Face.
