THERE’S APPARENTLY ONE THING that Republicans and Democrats alike agree on: They utterly dislike being called by pollsters with less than 1 out of every 10 not slamming down the receiver, according to a Pew Research Center study. Which probably means poll.

With the polling silly season upon us in a major election year, and with many such “polls” actually being a disguised way to try to get a point or candidate across because of the content of the questions asked, or involving those super-annoying robots that try to pass themselves off as actual people, it does bring up an interesting question.

Those few who do respond to polls pretty much have to be zealots of one side/variety or another whose minds were made up long, long before anybody asked them for their opinion. Isn’t political polling thus a lot like calling up a University of Georgia alumni list and asking respondents who will win the game against Tech?
