The theft occurred a week prior to another theft at Cagle Used Cars, where six vehicles were stolen and four were destroyed.
“There are some similarities (in the cases,) but there is no direct link,” Sheriff Steve Wilson said.
Two similarities are that the vehicles were stolen at night and were abused off-road until they were damaged, Wilson said.
According to Walker County Sheriff’s Office reports:
A yellow 2005 Nissan Xterra was discovered missing on May 19. Walker County sheriff’s Deputy Daniel Owens interviewed the vehicle’s owner at 7:50 a.m. The SUV had been parked at the owner’s East Long Hollow Road residence on May 18 at 8 p.m. and was taken later that night.
