Final: Drive 5, Braves 2 (at State Mutual Stadium)

The turning point:

The Drive jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. They took a 2-0 lead after the first inning, and owned a 5-0 lead through the first five innings of the game.

Who did what for Rome: Tony Mueller and Robby Hefflinger were the only Braves to have multiple hits. Mueller was 2-for-5 with a run scored, and Hefflinger was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Fernando De Los Santos scored the Braves’ other run.

On the mound: Ryan Weber took the loss for the Braves, and dropped to 1-2 on the season. Weber gave up nine hits, five earned runs, walked two and struck out three. Ian Thomas and Matt Talley each pitched two innings in relief.

Game notes: The Braves nearly swept the Drive, winning the first two games of the series.

Next Game: The Braves next begin a three-game home series against the Augusta GreenJackets tonight at 7 p.m.
