Rome police took a Rome man and woman into custody early Sunday morning after personnel at the Walmart in West Rome allegedly saw the woman changing prices on packages of meat.

According to Floyd County jail reports:

Brenda Leigh Butler, 43, of 240 Walenda Dr. was charged with theft by shoplifting after store security personnel watched her swap price stickers on ten packages of meat, valued at $173.

The incident occurred around 1 a.m. Sunday.

Theodore Russell Whittington, 45, of 119 Crackerneck Road, was charged with being a party to the crime of shoplifting. Whittington was supposedly with Butler while the price swapping was taking place and transported the women to the store.
