Police: Rome woman shoplifts food, insect killer

A Rome woman was arrested after allegedly stealing insect killer and food items from Kroger at 1476 Turner McCall Blvd. on Monday afternoon, according to Floyd County Jail and Rome police reports.

According to the reports:

Cherryle Lorrene Barrett, 40, of 6 North McLin St. was charged with misdemeanor shoplifting for attempting to conceal the items in her purse and walking past the registers without paying. The items included a pack of chitterlings valued at $7.99, a pack of Kool-aid valued at $3.79 and a can of Raid insect killer valued at $16.72.

She remained in jail Tuesday morning.
