South comes up short in All-Star Game

Final: North All-Stars 3, South All-Stars 2

(Charleston, S.C.)

The turning point: The North All-Stars scored the game’s first run in the fifth inning, then added single runs in the seventh and eighth. The South squad tried to rally in the ninth, scoring a pair of runs, but the comeback bid fell short.

Who did what for Rome: The R-Braves had two representatives on the South squad: pitchers David Filak and Navery Moore.

Filak, who entered in the top of the fifth, was saddled with the loss after allowing one run on two hits with one strikeout in his lone inning of work. Moore pitched a perfect sixth inning, with one strikeout.

For the South: Charleston’s Francisco Arcia and Asheville’s Harold Riggins drove in one run each for the South squad.

Game Notes: The game, which drew a crowd of 6,099, featured just three extra-base hits.
