The bride is the daughter of Ernest and Glenda Smith of Lindale. She is the granddaughter of Virginia Smith of Forsyth, the late Hugh Smith and the late James C. and Helen Long.
The groom is the son of Randall and Rita Kilgore of Silver Creek. He is the grandson of Zelma Clements of Lindale and the late Charles Clements.
The Rev. Dennis Conway performed the double ring ceremony before an altar decorated with a 15-branch wrought iron candelabra and two spiral fifteen branch candelabras, each holding lighted taper candles. A small glass topped table decorated with greenery held the couple’s unity candle and first communion. An urn filled with hydrangea, orchids, calla lilies and greenery was placed on each side of the altar and pews were marked with decorative funnels filled with assorted flowers.
Pianist Margie Frazier of Lindale provided a program of wedding music. Selections included “You Raise Me Up,” “Canon in D,” “Romantic Wedding March” and “The Prayer.” Vickie Conway of Cedartown performed “The Lord’s Prayer” during the couple’s first communion.
Marketta Conway of Aragon was the matron of honor. Bridesmaids included Mallory Osborne of Lindale and Kristin Quick of Rome. They wore satin wide strap tea-length
dresses of clover green with a sweetheart neckline and satin belted waistlines. The matron of honor donned a rhinestone pendant on the satin belt of her dress. Bridesmaids carried
bouquets of white calla lilies hand tied with white satin ribbon.
Evin McCormick of Rome served as flower girl. She wore a full-length ball gown dress with asymmetrical layers of organza that flowed down the skirt. The spaghetti strap bodice featured a floral detail on one shoulder. She also wore a sash of clover green around the waistline.
The bride, given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, wore a white satin strapless A-line gown with beaded lace appliqués, seed pearls and sequins. It featured a
cut out lace hem surrounding a chapel length train. A fingertip veil of illusion was edged in pearls, beads and sequins. The bride carried a bouquet of cream roses, white calla lilies
and miniature orchids hand tied with white satin ribbon.
Brent Bailey of Silver Creek served as best man. Groomsmen included Justin Conway of Aragon and Jacob Pilgrim of Rome.
Ushers were Scott Smith of Cartersville, brother of the bride, and Joel Grindstaff of Silver Creek.
The mother of the bride wore a knee length layered navy dress with a matching jacket featuring three-quarter length sleeves. The mother of the groom wore a knee length layered dress of ice blue with a three-quarter length matching jacket.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the Christian Life Center at Park Avenue Baptist Church in Lindale. Refreshments included the bride’s four-tier cake featuring layers of vanilla, strawberry and lemon. The layers were accented with reverse scrollwork and pearl edging in butter cream icing. The cake was topped with an assortment of fresh flowers and the couple’s monogram initial. The groom’s cake was a double layer chocolate cake with mocha filling which featured a small garland of a drop and loop design around the edges. It was topped with model airplanes.
The evening before the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner for the wedding party at Provino’s Italian Restaurant in Rome. Other prenuptial parties included a miscellaneous shower given by Glenda Smith, the mother of the bride; a miscellaneous shower hosted by Rita Kilgore, mother of the groom, Wanda Haggard and Beverly Lee at the Landmark Diner in Rome; a miscellaneous shower given by Martha Greene and Lindy Smith at the Woodmen of the World Clubhouse in Cartersville; a miscellaneous shower given by the ladies of Park Avenue Baptist Church; and a lingerie shower given by Marketta Conway held at the home of Connie Spears.
After a cruise to Alaska, the couple resides in Vernon, Conn.
