The R-Braves’ defense committed two errors that led to three unearned runs during Sunday’s 9-3 loss to Kannapolis at SMS. Here's a recap:

The turning point: The Braves’ led 1-0 before the Intimidators scored four runs in the fifth inning and then added four more in the sixth to build an 8-1 lead. All eight runs were charged to Rome starter Greg Ross, although three were unearned.

Who did what for Rome: Kyle Kubitza and Will Skinner each drove in a run for the Braves. Kubitza’s RBI was his 40th of the season.

No player in the Rome lineup finished with multiple hits.

On the mound: Ross, the Rome starter, worked six innings and allowed eight hits with two walks and five strikeouts. Reliever Ian Marshall worked a scoreless inning and lowered his ERA to 3.42.

Game notes: The loss dropped the Braves to 5-2 on this homestand, which continues with games tonight and Tuesday at SMS. It is the longest homestand of the season for the Braves, who are in first place in the Southern Division's second-half standings.
