Rome police are searching for several individuals involved in an apparent attempted robbery at a home on Calhoun Avenue.

Several shots were fired during the Sunday morning incident, but no one was hurt.

According to Rome police reports:

A resident at 516 Calhoun Ave. told officers he was sitting on his back porch when he was approached by several suspects, one of whom was brandishing a handgun.

The man ran inside the house, prompting the intruders to follow. Inside the home, another victim became embroiled in a scuffle with a couple of the intruders when the gunman approached and pointed the pistol at the second victim.

The gun went off when the victim tried to grab it, and the bullet struck a wall. The intruders fled, but not before several other shots were fired.

Witnesses, who reported hearing at least four shots, told officers the suspects fled across Stonewall Street.

Police recovered three 9mm shell casings from a neighboring property.
