Sue Hamler Lee, an ARF volunteer who is organizing the contest, said the entry period for the contest will last one month, and judges will be announced at a later date.
She said the inspiration came in part from a similar organization in Chattanooga who had a contest for their cutest dogs, and that the idea sounded perfect for Rome.
“Everyone talks about photos of their pets now,” she said. “So I thought it would be a good idea to put the two together for two reasons. First it’s a great fundraiser, and second it showcases the pets in our community.”
Entry forms will be available online at www.arfromefloyd.com (linked above), along with more information about submitting the photos.
Rules for the contest include a $5 entry fee per photo, which gives contestants five votes for the photo they’ve entered. A $1 donation with no upper limit can be applied for one vote per photo.
A $15 donation can be given to have pictures separately included as “Pets of the Week” to be featured at the beginning of each calendar week. Those photos will not be part of the judging.
The calendars, set to be released in the beginning of October, are $12 each and only 250 will be printed in the first run. Depending on demand, Lee said they will consider another run of calendars.
ARF is also selling advertising for the calendars, and those interested can contact Lee at 706-235-2067.
