Rome Rome Police PFC Victor Marsh said the 16-year-old girl, whose name is not being released, was cited for failing to obey a traffic control signal.
She was taken to Floyd Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
According to Marsh, witnesses said the driver of a 2010 Honda Civic had been stopped at a red light in the through-lane on Second Avenue.
“When the light turned green, the driver proceeded forward. At the same time, she walked out quickly in front of the car. That’s when she was struck,” he said.
The incident took place about 1:30 p.m. After getting statements from witnesses, police checked the crosswalk pedestrian signal and determined it was working properly, Marsh said.
