Final: Braves 6, Tourists 5 (11 innings)

The turning point: Ross Heffley delivered an RBI single with two outs in the 11th inning to send the Braves to a walk-off win. The Braves had two outs and the bases empty before Elmer Reyes, Tony Mueller and Heffley hit consecutive singles. Two innings earlier, the Braves faced a 5-2 deficit going into the bottom of the ninth, but they got off the deck to score three runs and tie it.

Who did what for Rome: During the ninth-inning rally, Reyes’ two-out RBI single drove in the tying run after Chase Anselment and Brandon Drury also produced RBIs. Heffley, Reyes and William Beckwith finished with three hits each.

On the mound: Rome starter David Stern worked 4 1-3 innings, allowing five runs (all earned) on four hits and three walks. He finished with four strikeouts. Three Rome relievers — Ian Thomas, David Peterson and Ronan Pacheco (1-0) — then combined for 6 2-3 scoreless innings to set up the Braves’ comeback.

Game notes: The Braves came into the day having lost three straight games, but had maintained a share of first place in the Southern Division.

Next Game: The Braves play the Tourists tonight at 7 p.m., and wrap up the series (and the homestand) with a 1 p.m. game on Tuesday.
