Donnacha Cassidy from Killarney, Ireland, will compete in the Leadville Trail 100 Mountainbike Race in Colorado on Aug. 11. The race was won by Lance Armstrong in 2009. Cassidy is in Rome training for the upcoming race, taking advantage of the seven hills. He trains 15 hours a week, reaching a total of 8,000 feet in elevation. “I am trying to find the highest elevated areas in Rome,” Cassidy said. It is his second summer in Rome, and he says it is hard to get accustomed to the local heat. Cassidy is staying with Rome friends who he met at the University of Limerick. He has been in Rome since June 29 and will leave for Colorado on Saturday.
