Cannon was awarded a full scholarship to Southeast Tourism Society’s Marketing College by the Georgia Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus. The marketing college is a week of intensive training taught by top tourism industry leaders and working professionals. He will attend the program at North Georgia College & State University from July 29 through August 4.
Following three years of training through the program, Cannon will attain certification as a travel marketing professional.
Cannon, director of communications, has been with the GRCVB since 2009 following graduation from a local college.
Chaffin was awarded a scholarship to attend the Governor’s Conference on Tourism by the Historic High Country Travel Association. Chaffin and other GRCVB officials will travel to Atlanta on August 26-29 for education, work sessions and programming from industry leaders.
Chaffin, a graduate of Georgia State University, has been with the GRCVB since 2011 as the special projects assistant.
The GRCVB is the official destination marketing organization of Rome and Floyd County and seeks to develop tourism throughout the community.
