An 8-year-old girl bit the man who grabbed her from behind and then ran away, but not before turning around to get a description of the suspect, police said.

Police released more details about the attempted kidnapping on July 13 in the area of Turner Chapel Road, including a composite sketch based on information from the girl.

The girl was playing in her own yard when the man came up behind her and put his hand over her mouth, said Sgt. Teri Davis of the Floyd County Police Department.

That’s when the girl bit him and ran, Davis said. The man also ran away, but the girl turned around and looked at him.

He was not seen getting into a vehicle, Davis said.

Two vehicles were seen in the area, but it is not known if the suspect got into either of them, Davis said.

They are described as a newer, large white passenger car and a light colored long-bed truck.

A GBI sketch artist drew a portrait from the girl’s description showing a white male with a tan and close-cropped hair.

The world “Marlo” on his neck in the drawing is not a tattoo but the signature of the sketch artist.

Sgt. Ron Hunton of the Floyd County Police Department encouraged parents to make sure their children know to be aware of strangers.

“Tell them not to get in a vehicle with anyone they don’t know,” Hunton said. “If they see anyone suspicious, let their parents know.”

Anyone who recognizes the man in the sketch or has any information may contact Hunton at 314-0917 or Davis at 706-314-0757, or call 911.
